The residence of Captain Charles Hopkins Tryon is an outstanding example of cross-gabled bracketed Italianate architecture. The entire homestead, extensively remodeled in the 1870's, has good integrity. The original barn was replaced in 1912 and new identical copies of the original cupolas replaced the old in the late 1990's. The remaining outbuildings are in good standing. Several have been restored to their original condition.17 He was listed as the Head of the Household in the 1910 US Federal Census for 438 Judd St, Woodstock, McHenry County, Illinois, USA.25 Charles Hopkins Tryon was on his own income [retired] on 19 April 1910.3 He died on 13 April 1916 at Woodstock, McHenry County, Illinois, USA, at age 891,26 and was buried at South Hebron Cemetery, Hebron, McHenry County, Illinois, USA.27
