Hammond Advertiser - Thursday June 4, 1936: Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2, from the home, for Mrs. Araminta S. Gregory, about 80, widow of the late A. W. Gregory of this village, who passed away at her home Thursday morning at 6, following a lingering illness. Rev. W. H. McKirdy, pastor of the local Presbyterian church, officiated, and interment was made in the family plot in Ingham cemetery. Mrs. Gregory underwent a major operation at the Hepburn Hospital last August and had been in failing health since that time. She had been receiving treatment in the hospital the past three months and was removed to her home here about two weeks ago. Prior to her entrance to the hospital in February she had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Merrit M. Morse, in Ogdensburg.
Mrs. Gregory was born at Brier Hill, a daughter of William Nelson and Ruth Carter Coonradt, and had spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was married to Arthur W. Gregory, who was a prominent retired banker and business man here, on Sept 13, 1876. He predeceased her on June 26, 1934.
Mr. and Mrs. Gregory owned a winter home in Orlando Florida and had spent ten winters there. Mrs. Gregory was an active member of the Presbyterian church of this village, and was also active in its societies. She was a past matron of the Thousand Isles chapter, O.E.S., and past president of the Woman's Relief Corps. The O.E.S. attended the funeral in a body, as a tribute to the former matron. Mrs. Gregory was a woman of many sterling qualities, and leaves a large circle of friends who deeply regret her passing. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. M. Morse of Ogdensburg, a son, Egbert C. Gregory of this village, three grandchildren, Arthur and Hubert Gregory of this place, and Mrs. Dean Frelan of Ogdensburg. Another son, James W. Gregory died here about five years ago.25
