Colonel Gideon Milroy Carrie was also known as George Milroy.4,5 He was born on 13 May 1892 at Bognor, Grey County, Ontario, Canada.1,6,7 He was the son of James Grierson Carrie and Elizabeth McWhirter.1,4,5 Colonel Gideon Milroy Carrie graduated in 1915 from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as a civil engineer3,5 and went overseas with the Canadian Army. He was seconded to the Indian Army in 1917 and served in Mesopotamia, Iraq, Egypt and Syria staying after the war until 1922 when he returned to Owen Sound and married my mother.5,3 Prior to enlisting in the Canadian Army he had served three years in the Canadian Engineers, Toronto, and then with the 22nd Saskatchewan Light Horse (Militia).5 He was a civil engineer on 21 June 1922 at Box 500, Grenville, Arguenteuil County, Québec, Canada.4 He married Margaret Melbourne Kilbourn, daughter of George Stirke Kilbourn and Margaret Durie Paterson, on 21 June 1922 at Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario, Canada.4 Colonel Gideon Milroy Carrie and Margaret Melbourne Kilbourn lived at Kilmar, Québec, Canada.3 Colonel Gideon Milroy Carrie was General Manager of the Canadian Refractories Company at Montréal, Québec, Canada.3 He and Margaret Melbourne Kilbourn lived at Montréal, Québec, Canada.3 Colonel Gideon Milroy Carrie served in the military in 1939, He rejoined the army in 1939 and went overseas as Colonel of the !st Canadian Survey Regiment .
