The Ottawa Branch has installed a Canon M300 II microfilm / microfiche reader at the city of Ottawa Archives . This machine is for the use of Ottawa branch members but when idle it is available to members of the archive's staff and the public. This machine is equipped with a computer to allow the electronic copying of any microfilm image. In order to copy an image you'll need to bring a blank CD or a Jump Drive ( USB Drive ). Currently there is no internet access for this machine so you cannot email a copy to yourself. A volunteer is usually available to help you use the reader and make copies.

Searchable Library Catalog Now you can search the Library catalog using keywords.

The Resource Centre also houses the libraries of La Société Franco-Ontarienne d'Histoire et de Généalogie, the British Isles Family History Society, the Sir Guy Carleton Branch of the United Empire Loyalist Society, the C. Robert Craig Memorial Library, the Ottawa Branch of the Jewish Genealogical Society, the Ottawa Repository of the Montreal/Ottawa Conference of the United Church, and the City Corporation's historical collections and records.

Our Librarian cannot help with emailed enquiries. If you need to request an inquiry of our branch please refer to our inquiries web page.

Volunteers from the partner libraries help to run the Resource Centre. They will serve as monitors, giving limited advice about the collections to visiting researchers, collecting fees and re-shelving books. We can always use additional volunteers. Anyone willing to provide this valuable but not onerous service for half a day per week should contact the librarian.

The library has a growing collection of over 4,000 catalogued items: including books, articles, talks, films, maps, scrapbooks, family bible entries, lodge records, member's pedigree charts, many genealogical periodicals, a name index, IGI microfiche, and other genealogical holdings.

This is not a lending library. Please read this information.

Free parking is available underground off Sussex Drive .

The telephone number of the Resource Centre is 580-2424, ext 13333

NOTE: Due to copyright laws we will not accept requests to copy publications in our library holdings. If you need copies of any material, contact the original author or publisher.
